Before I say anything, YOU NEED A RESERVATION. We came in with one and there was a sign saying they had fully booked the day without walk ins so if you don't have a reservation you probably shouldn't take your chances. Also, their "specialty" pork sells out really fast so if you want to try their best pork, try going earlier in the day. The fried pork was super tender and delicious, and so was the curry for the rice. The beef stew was also delicious, with the beef being extremely soft and tender. But what really stood out was the miso soup. My kids described it as "drugs" because it was so good and addictive. Server was very nice and answered all our questions. Would definitely come again! A great spot!
If you’re looking for authentic Tonkatsu, this is the spot! Recommended by a colleague of mine based in Honolulu, he said this place was “fire”, so when a restaurant gets a “fire” rating from a local foodie, it’s time to go! The staff are very friendly and we’re always timely in delivering us unlimited salad and miso soup. I ordered the Curry Tonkatsu with a side order of garlic bread. The tonkatsu was perfectly cooked and with the curry sauce poured on top was divine. Along with that, there is traditional tonkatsu sauce on the table which I put on a few bites and the sauce was perfection as well. As for the garlic bread, it was buttery, garlicky, and delicious! But the real trick was dipping that garlic bread in the curry sauce… BOOM!!! Heaven in every bite!!! If you’re in the Waikiki area, make a reservation and secure your spot here! Walking in is possible, but you probably won’t get a seat.
Airy clouds of cabbage salad are so lovely to eat. I could eat this salad every day. Refills are possible with a set order. Self-serve dressing are on the table: miso, vinaigrette, or included lemon slice. The tenderloin pieces are very soft, yet light and crispy. The thicker cut pork are a tad chewier, still really good with the yellow mustard and toasted sesame sauce. One of these days I'll order the katsu sandwich! I've visited in March 2023 and Dec 2024. Service is great. Reservations are made online, sometimes available a few hours prior on a weekday. Though, the later the reservation, the higher the likelihood that certain cuts of pork may have run out for the day. Tip: Oahu's Best coupons (online or booklet) sometimes has a dine-in 10% off 1st visit and 15% off 2nd visit. (Please tip according to the original amount!)
Yummy! Juicy, tender, and just enough fat! Tried our luck walking in, and got a table immediately. Was asked to finish before their reservation but it was more than enough for us.
Pork katsu is amazing. So light flakey crunchy but not greasy. Price is also good, two people can have excellent quality meal for $50. Service and atmosphere is OK. Come for the delicious pork.
