The vibe is awesome. The atmosphere very unique, and the food was delightful.
The service however was a little unexpected. The server was great. Very nice, but not very attentive. The food took a very long time to arrive. We enjoy a slow pace, but more on our flow vs waiting for service.
Overall it was a nice experience and we are happy to have dined here.

House without a Key kicked off my dining experience during my stay in Honolulu. Boy did they set the bar. Beautiful location on the beach, set for beautiful sunsets. The host sat us right where the sun would be seen and that was special. Our server Michelle was sweet and attentive to our questions and needs, as we were first timers. The food was phenomenal and the live entertainment was the icing on the cake. I do wish I would have ordered cake for my desert, but 10/10 for the entire experience.

House Without a Key – Breathtaking Views, Forgettable Food
House Without a Key is all about the setting. The moment you walk in, you’re hit with a perfect Hawaiian ambiance—ocean breeze, live music, and the kind of open-air dining that makes you want to linger. But if you're looking for a memorable meal, this isn’t the place.
Drinks – The Way to Go
The cocktail presentation is fantastic—vibrant, colorful, and perfectly fitting for a tropical evening. Stick to classic drinks rather than their house mixes, which can be hit or miss. If you want a perfect sunset drink, you’ll enjoy it here. Just don’t expect a game-changer.
Food – Expensive & Underwhelming
I had low expectations going in, and honestly, it was about what I expected.
The hot dog was literally a sausage in a dry bun.
The pizza looked promising but was bland with a weak crust.
The fish dish had great presentation but lacked depth in flavor.
The burger and fries? Mediocre at best, and definitely not worth the price.
Nothing on the table was terrible, but at these prices, it should be far better. You’re paying for the location, not the food.
Final Verdict
Come for the views and a cocktail, then eat somewhere else. House Without a Key nails the Hawaiian atmosphere, but the kitchen just doesn’t deliver. If you want a great meal to go with your sunset, this isn’t it.

Made a reservation for a particular table, al fresco, many months in advance of our visit. Explained it is our 35th wedding anniversary. Upon arrival, we were directed to a table under their roof, not al fresco, or the particular table for which we reserved. We asked the server about the reserved table and, after speaking to another host person, we were advised another guest was afforded the table. No accommodation to the table being outside was afforded, even if not the table requested. There were several vacant tables outdoors and near where we wanted to sit. I'm sure some may think trival, but it was not for us. It was a special event for us.
Cesar salad is advertised with anchovie dressing. The anchovies were just filets laid on top. Description did not indicate tomatoes, and such are not typical in Cesar salads. No traditional croutons were included; rather, several small toasted bread slices. Romaine lettuce leaves were served whole; I preferred torn leaves, but maybe that's just me. No shaved parmesean cheese, which is a typical add. Very nice floral garnish.
Disappointed.
