Stayed in a private condo here for a week. The staff were excellent. Everyone in the stores and restaurants were very friendly. Pool and valet staff were awesome as well. The pools need some attention. The water made bathing suits smell like sour wet dog when they dry out. I wonder when the last time the pools have been drained… Location is great, it’s only a short walk to other restaurants and the ABC store for goods. Also easy to get in and out of with a rental car. At $45 per day the valet sounds expensive but other parking options will only save you a few dollars and then you’ll have to walk a ways to and from parking. If you can score a deal on a room then I would recommend staying here.

Stayed here for a conference. Pretty nice place to stay with a few minor issues. Staff were great. Rooms were nice, “fairly appointed” with some very basic cutlery and dish-ware, microwave, stove, full fridge and freezer. It was great to have a balcony and the ocean views were impressive. Be aware that room 27 shares a wall with one of the elevators, which was very noisy, and I asked to be moved to a different room. The beds were very firm to the point of being uncomfortable, and probably the worst thing about the rooms. But things were clean and reasonably updated. The hotel has a bunch of shops on the ground floor, including an ABC convenience store, which is nice in a pinch but be expected to be gouged on price. You’re better off walking 10 minutes down the road to a cheaper store or just order groceries from Costco. There’s an awesome ice cream place on site and you get one free scoop per room per day; also 2 bottles of water per day included. The location is great, right by the marina and Hilton Hawaiian village. It’s near a major intersection and lots of apartment buildings, so it’s busy - expect to hear a lot of traffic, sirens, motorcycles, etc but you’re walking distance to pretty much everything you could want. The one glaring issue is the pool. They technically have two - one very shallow wading pool, and one proper pool. They sometimes don’t have enough staff, and so actually closed the wading pool on a beautiful sunny Saturday and moved everyone to the other pool, which was overcrowded (staff actually came and told us she couldn’t run both pools. Not sure if someone was sick that day maybe). Good thing is they don’t hassle you if you bring your own drinks/food, but there’s no bar or pool side service. There were tons of kids in both pools. A large number of people are “owners” / live there full time, and there’s a distinct “grandkids visiting nana in Hawaii” vibe. Not necessarily a bad thing, but if you’re looking for an adults only pool, this isn’t the place for you. Overall, good place to stay if you’re looking to cook / get your own groceries, with great staff…just don’t expect any strawberry daiquiris poolside, unless you bring your own.

I was staying in Oahu for a surgery at Tripler Army Medical Center and chose to stay at Ilikai because they had a military rate. Overall, I was very pleased with my stay. The front desk staff, housekeeping, security, restaurant staff, etc were all great. The hotel is obviously older, but in my opinion well maintained. The options for food are solid. Sunsets on the patio are beautiful, and we enjoyed having the Friday hula show on site. My room was cleaned daily and it was extremely comfortable. The only slight downsides are the gym and the elevator situation. The “gym” is very much lacking and kind of sad. And there just aren’t enough elevators for the amount of people coming through the hotel. Other than that, I had an extremely pleasant stay. If you’re looking for Waikiki nostalgia this is definitely the place to stay.

Their online info does not truly depict the hotel. They have 600 rooms and two pools with maybe 80 chairs total. You had to literally fight for a spot at the pool. Some of the pool employees were rude as well. As for the room- nice and spacious but our shower flooded the floor and one night the shower itself wouldn’t shut off. They did get someone up to our room quick. Our sink also leaked. They did however do a nice job flipping the room daily and cleaning. No ice machine on floors- you had to go to the front desk. You also only got two bottled waters a day. The washer and dryer rooms on each floor were subpar. Most of them were broken. If the machine wasn’t broken the laundry detergent machine was broken. I filled my laundry card for 30 dollars and the card wouldn’t work so I ended up having to use my credit card. Overall, for a 4,000 dollar 9 night stay I was not impressed.

My room had a small kitchenette making it a great place to stay long term. Staff was always friendly and helpful, room was kept clean. Walking distance of great food places and beach access.
