The only royal palace in the United States. I did the docent tour with a guide who informed the group of all the items. Both flash photos and videos are strictly prohibited. All patrons are advised not to touch or lean on anything. Food and drinks are also prohibited. Shoes must be covered with disposable coverings to ensure no damage to the carpet or hardwood floors. I definitely recommend with a tour guide so questions can be asked and answered real time.

If you're a fan of history or architecture make sure you come here. The elegance of the building and decor is truly unmatched. The woodwork alone would take years to replicate using modern tools - truly capturing the craftsmanship that is on display. Make sure you've cleared your phone storage before arriving - I never stopped taking pictures. The audio tour was very informative and really supplements what you're walking through. I would suggest this to anyone visiting Hawaii to provide the historical context needed to understand the history of this proud and unique culture.

The tour was engaging and informative, offering fascinating insights into the palace’s many treasures and the stories behind them. A must-visit for history enthusiasts!

A great place to visit. Oahu is not just about sun, beaches and ocean. It is rich in history that people should know. You can learn what was going on before the Americans came. Nice surroundings, nice interior, rich and history. Very interesting and very recommended. A must see place in Honolulu.

We visited Iolani Palace on a weekend and took a self-guided tour with an audio guide. It was an excellent way to learn about Hawaii’s imperial history and the overthrow of the Queen by the US. I had never heard this story before, and it was both fascinating and a bit saddening. I highly recommend visiting this palace, as it is the only one in the US.
