L&L Hawaiian BBQ is located in the upper level food court with all the other fast food restaurant. When we went on Sunday evening, it was very busy and there was a line up to order food. We ordered the Hawaiian mixed platter and a drink which came to $30. The platter came with 2 scoops of rice, grilled meats, and we changed the default macaroni salad to a green salad. Meat was very chewy but flavour was on-point. You really need your hands to eat the meat off the bone. As a non-local, I enjoyed this much more than the Rainbow Drive-In’s mixed platter.

During my visit, I tried their Spam Musubi and Chicken Teriyaki Bowl, and here’s my experience:
Spam Musubi
The Spam Musubi at Royal Waikīkī L&L is a classic Hawaiian snack, and they do it well. The Spam was grilled to perfection with a nice crispy edge, but still tender and juicy in the middle. The teriyaki glaze was sweet and savory, giving the Spam just the right amount of flavor without overwhelming it. The rice was sticky and well-seasoned, packed tightly, and wrapped in a crisp, lightly salted sheet of nori that added a nice textural contrast. It’s a great, satisfying snack or small meal, it’s also a great value.
Chicken Teriyaki Bowl
The Chicken Teriyaki Bowl was another solid choice. The chicken was char-grilled with a smoky flavor that paired perfectly with the sweet, slightly tangy teriyaki sauce. The sauce wasn’t too heavy, and it complemented the tender, juicy chicken without being overpowering. The dish came with a generous serving of steamed white rice, which soaked up the sauce nicely. The portion size was hearty and filling—perfect for a satisfying lunch or dinner.
Service and Atmosphere
The service was quick and friendly, fitting the fast-casual nature of the spot. The staff were efficient, and the environment was clean, if not particularly fancy. While it’s a no-frills spot, it’s perfect for grabbing a quick bite and enjoying a relaxed, casual meal. Located in a busy food court , it’s ideal for taking your food to-go.
Value and Portion Size
The prices here are reasonable for the portion sizes. The Spam Musubi is an affordable snack, and the Chicken Teriyaki Bowl is a solid, filling meal that will leave you satisfied. Considering the quality and generous portions, it’s a great spot for a budget-friendly yet tasty meal in Honolulu.
Overall Experience
Royal Waikīkī L&L provides a reliable, no-frills Hawaiian barbecue experience. The Spam Musubi is a great snack with just the right balance of flavors, while the Chicken Teriyaki Bowl is a fulfilling, flavorful meal. If you’re looking for quick, comforting food without breaking the bank, this spot is definitely worth a visit.
Highly recommend if you’re in the area and craving something satisfying and delicious!

The curry chicken Katsu plate was very good with white rice and macaroni salad. There was an unbelievable amount of food for $17.95. I am usually a clean plate club member. But I couldn’t finish the amount of food that was here so I have some for breakfast tomorrow.
this location in the mall in Waikiki is very convenient and a fun place to people watch.

Very good. Had Garlic shrimp with salad and brown rice. Very tasty. Shrimp shells stuck to the meat. Overall, Good experience. Suggestion, peel the shrimp shell first before marinading so the spices go directly on the shrimp and not the shell...Staff was nice

Great options to sample some local dishes. Got their Kalua Pork & Lau Lau Combo, Seafood Comb, Garlic Shrimp and Shrimp Burger. The meat was tender, the portions are generous, the food tasted great. Would recommend giving them a try.
