As a ukulele enthusiast visiting Hawaii I was thrilled to discover The Ukulele Store and its owner Tyler. I visited on my first day just to see if it was worth coming back to. Tyler explained about the variety of Uke’s he sold and what he recommended for me. I decided that I would return a few days later once jet lag had subsided. During this time I visited another Uke brand where the sales person, although very pleasant, was really not knowledgeable, and a Ukulele factory where I had a strum of some of their instruments - but my heart didn’t sing. We (my husband and I) returned to The Ukulele Store and spent quality time with Tyler to find a uke that best suited me. Tyler was so patient, and had a knack to know exactly what I was looking (actually listening) for!! I returned a day later to pickup my new uke which Tyler himself installed a passive pickup and a strap button and took a huge amount of time to give me a lesson to get the most out of my beautiful new uke. Ukelele’s are part of Tyler - he is so passionate about finding the right uke for the right person. We never felt pressured - and his love for the instrument and the joy he gets from sharing this love is priceless. Mahalo Tyler so very much the Aloha you spread!

My husband and I visited Honolulu from our Princess cruise so we didn't have much time. I have always wanted to get a ukulele while in Hawaii. I didn't do a lot of research, but I knew some of the well-known Hawaiian brands. Tyler was wonderful and helped us out quickly and with great knowledge. We found The Ukulele Store via Google maps. Based on price point, size, and sound, I ended up getting a gorgeous amplified Leilani Kumu CM54A TUX finish concert ukulele. It is made from laminate Koa wood (Hawaiian-made solid Koa ukuleles start at >$2300!) with reconstituted rosewood fingerboard. An X2-pro amplification unit had been installed. Also purchased a semi-hard carrying case. End price @ ~$600. I am so happy with it. It plays so wonderfully and sounds great! Thank you Tyler!

The owner was at the store when I went in. Very friendly - happy to share his clearly extensive knowledge. Lots of different price points and ranges of instruments. They are happy to ship your instrument if you don’t feel like figuring out how to fly home with it. Great buying experience - would recommend.

Tyler the owner of the store is a really good guy he gave me a guitar case for free along with the ukelele I purchased and I couldn’t be more thankful. I’m a visitor here and he made feel wanted which I must say is a great feeling. If you’re going to buy a ukelele while you’re out here come to the ukelele store. They give free lessons everyday at 4:30pm. This island and the people on it are beautiful, mahalo.
